Last year the theme for the Art Quilts Around The World group was: "Opposites Attrackt" This was  A3 size.
I thought that I could use it again for my theme  People.. I've used the same figures, only bigger and a different background.
This fabric is also dyed with low-water immersion. I have four of them and I'm gonna use them all. So  I  changed my mind again and will make two more.
Letters and figures are drawn and colored with watercolor pens and textile paint.

In fact the colors are different. Gray/green and rost brown.

Finaly I finished my third one.
I used a hand dyed fabric (low-water immersion deying) and draw the text and the figure on it with a pencil and coloured them with watercolour pens.
As usual a LOT of quilting.  I found the text on internet.

I thought I had posted pictures of my 4 quilts as they were finished in May, but I only seem to have 2 on the blog, so here are the final 2

I made a study of a piece of textiles that I bought in the market in India. I used a piece of recycled black linen for the background, appiqued small pieces of fabric and machine stitched using a thick thread

Another piece inspired by a textile piece bought in the market.

I made a piece of blue fabric look old by bleaching and printing, then added hand stitching.

 Quilt n°2 Barn door.

         I’ve worked on a hand dyed fabric that I tore then shaded  with  Derwent ink pencils and quilted  with free  quilting machine. The foliage is applicated and  then colored with Derwent ink pencils.

                                 Quilt n°1 Old rusty tole.

 I have dyed my own fabric with rust and I have painted the back with acrylic.
The leaves are printed with the leaves painted with acrylic. I used machine quilting with polyester treads.

 

Wilderness Canoe Trip 4

Wilderness Canoe Trip – 4 A strong wind makes the once benign lake a more ominous companion. The wind pushes the water which forms strong diamond shaped waves, the whole moving mass glinting in the low sunlight. Paddling the canoe is hard and the water feels as dense as liquid cement as my paddle strokes through it. The inside of a halogen birthday balloon creates the silver glints, self dyed, pieced cotton is the top layer. Machine stitch and reverse applique.
