I do not know the inspiration for the first two, but the third one is inspired by the leaves of the cactus adapting to life in the desert. Long and thin thrones not to loose water by evaporation.

My name is Sally Westcott.  I live in Tasmania Australia. This is my first quilt in a series about seed pods.  I am looking forward to seeing where this takes me.  I have a few ideas but my quilting sometimes takes on a mind of its own.. Thank you for letting me join this group.

Hello all together

I'm Heidi Drahota,  one of the new members of this group. Thank you for being part of it.

I'm from Nürnberg Germany - I think you can listen it because of my German accent.

My work is textile contemporary art. I almost like all textile techniques and do it since my childhood. After a lot of time making ceramique and painting watercolours I came back to my textile roots in 2002.  I started creating handbags. That's why my website is called 'Taschenkind' literally translated 'Child of bags'.

Since 2008 my work is totally changed. I started creating wet-felted large-sized wallhangings and installations. I exhibited all over the world. You can see more on my homepage but it is only in German - sorry.

Primarily I'm specializing in felting - I'm a wetfelter! - but nowadays I'm also be a quilter and I often mix the different techniques. 2 years ago I met with the ecoprinting and since that time my learning in dyeing is ongoing. 

Mostly my themes are affected by nature and human rights.

Hi, my name is Peta Bos. Currently I live and work in Landgraaf (near Maastricht) in the Netherlands.
I am a self-taught quilter for more than 30 years. I became enamored of art quilts as a means of expression.
I relish the freedom and messiness of hand-dyeing my own fabrics, manipulating them, cutting and reassembling the pieces, and adding texture by stitching.
Textile still moves me!!

OEQC

This weekend we had our first exhibition at the OEQC in Maastricht the Netherlands. During the 4 days of the show there were approximately 5000 visitors. Our 80 quilts were hanging next to and opposite the Tentmakers of Cairo and at the end of the pathway there was a restaurant. In other words lots and lots of people saw our work. Our next exhibition will be in June in Minnesota USA.

Back to circles

My plan for this year was to create a number of quilts based upon microphotos of beverages. For some reason I did not get very inspired and up till now managed only one quilt with this theme. As November is approaching I think I better switch my theme for this year back to circles. I have been making quite a lot of them. Here are some of the recent ones:

I am very excited as I used the Speedball  Drawing fluid and the Speedball Filler to make my own screen of the frog and the bees. In fact the screen has two sizes of bee. I need to refine how I apply the filler as with these little home made screens applying the filler was difficult.The mesh is not nearly as taut as a wood framed screen and there is no frame to keep them raised when applying the filler. Hopefully I will refine the process. I am planning to make 2 more so that if hung together they might be large enough to show in some of the quilt shows. The applied fabrics are sun printing. The quilting in all four pieces relates vaguely to the movements followed by the various creatures, eg the bee quilting is lots and lots of intersecting straight lines for their flight paths.
I am just hoping the post works and they get to Wil in time.
